CANSO REGIONS
MIDDLE EAST

CANSO is delighted to announce the reactivation of the CANSO Middle East Region. After months of coordination, the reactivation is linked to CANSOs strategic direction for its air traffic management (ATM) industry members. CANSO will start developing the Middle East work plan with its regional members centred on the region´s needs. Also, CANSO will integrate its global activities that will help the region achieve its goals. CANSO is proud to re-incorporate the Middle East Region as part of the regional portfolio.

CANSO will be present at the International Federation of Aeronautical Information Management Association (IFAIMA) Annual Conference, Dubai´s Safety Symposium, and the Middle East Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (MIDANPIRG) in Oman.

The CANSO Middle East Region is currently without a regional director. CANSO’s programme managers and global workgroup chairs continue to represent CANSO in safety and operational forums in the region and to offer support for regional initiatives.

REGIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

CANSO participated in the Middle East Air Traffic Flow Management Task Force 7 (ME ATFM TF/7) and FIFA World Cup 2022 Task Force 8 (FWC2022 TF/8). The meetings reviewed the FIFA World Cup ATM Post Implementation Review, recommendations, and ATFM Action Plan for the region.

CANSO made a few interventions and offered the CADENCE platform for the ME region to support the region´s ATFM implementation. CANSO also shared the CANSO ATFM guidance material with the meeting, and they were included in the meeting report.

CANSO was recognised and obtained a certificate of appreciation from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority for supporting the efforts in implementing the MID-FIFA World Cup Regional plan, which assisted in managing traffic movement during the 2022 World Cup.
