The CANSO Middle East Region is currently without a regional director. CANSO’s programme managers and global workgroup chairs continue to represent CANSO in safety and operational forums in the region and to offer support for regional initiatives.
CANSO participated in a number of regional safety forums including the ICAO Middle East Safety Enhancement Implementation Group (MIDSEIG) as well as the Regional Aviation Safety Group-Middle East (RASG-MID/8).
CANSO continues to participate in the ICAO Middle East Air Navigation Planning and Implementation Regional Group (MIDANPIRG) and ICAO Middle East Recovery Planning Task Force (MID Region RPTF). CANSO’s support has been primarily focused on ANS business continuity and recovery in the areas of skilled staff, rostering and continuity of service provision during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also in the past year CANSO supported a regional Global Reporting Format webinar in the Middle East region focusing on the impact of the upcoming new rules on runway surface condition reporting on ANSPs in preparation for the November 2021 applicability date.
